Kanya Girl Child Welfare, in association with Fortis Hospital and Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, organised a Free Medical Check-Up Camp on 13th May, Friday from 10am-2pm at Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology.

Through this camp, Kanya (Welfare Organisation) strived to put emphasis on the after-effects of COVID, and how keeping up with health, especially amongst the youth, has taken the backseat. Apart from the obvious mental and neurological complications plaguing any recovering patient, some long-term symptoms include chronic body ache, cough, difficulty breathing and fatigue, long after the virus has left the body.

“As the world gets acquainted with the new-normal and the youth settles into their daily hustle, we observe that the problems faced during and after recovery from COVID are nearly not talked about enough.” shares Mrs. Nishi Kapoor, Founder of the Tricity-based NGO.

Keeping that in mind, the Free Medical Check-Up Camp was designed for an overall health check-up, wherein the Medical team comprised of 8 members, including a Gynecologist, a General Physician and a Dietician. Free OPD Consultation was provided alongwith BP, Blood Sugar & ECG Tests.

Around 100-150 students participated and COVID Prevention Guidelines were all complied with as everyone was urged to maintain social distancing, wear a mask at all times and use the hand sanitizer available at a few points at the venue.

The event concluded with Certificates of Participation being awarded to the Medical Team and a Special Thanks being extended to Fortis Hospital, Mohali. At the end, a Token of Appreciation was presented to Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology on behalf of Kanya Girl Child Welfare Organisation in acknowledgement of yet another successful collaboration.
